Ainsworth, John Cooper 1884 - 1961

John Cooper Ainsworth was born in Hyde, Cheshire, England on 20 December 1884 and was articled to Thomas Brammall Daniel (1873-1956) from 1901 to 1903. He then attended Manchester University School of Architecture from 1903 to 1907. He worked as an assistant to Percy Scott Worthington (1864-1939) in 1907; to Edgar Wood (1860-1935); and to John Henry Woodhouse and Alfred Edward Corbett (1873-1916) of Woodhouse, Corbett & Dean from 1908. Ainsworth qualified as an architect in 1909 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1910. He subsequently practised as an architect in Manchester and, by 1914, in London.

Cooper's address was given as Arnold Hill, Gee Cross, Hyde, Cheshire in 1909; 100 King Street, Manchester in 1910; 67 Strand-on-Green, Chiswick, London and  18 Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster, London in 1914; The Gerrards, Kingsmead Avenue, Worcester Park, Surrey in 1926;  Gatesgarth, Chantry View Road, Guildford, Surrey in 1939; and April Wood, Scotland Lane, Haslemere, Surrey in 1961. He died in Haslemere, Surrey on 25 September 1961
