Ernest Cecil Porter Allen [also known as E. C. P. Allen] was born in Hereford, Herefordshire, England on 25 June 1904. He studied at the Architectural Association Schools in London in the 1920s and was a Grissell Gold Medallist in 1927. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1929. By the mid-1930s he had settled in Maidenhead, Berkshire where he practised as an architect until at least the early 1960s. He died in Berkshire in 1999
