Frederick William Anderson was born in Sutterton, Lincolnshire, England in 1874 and was articled to James Leafe in Boston. He then worked as an assistant and clerk of works to J. Allin from 1898 to 1900 when he commenced independent practice as an architect in Birmingham. He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911. His address was given as Driffold, Sutton Coldfield, Warwickshire and Coleridge Chambers, Corporation Street, Birmingham in 1911 and 1914
