Benjamin Claude Andrew was born in St. Austell, Cornwall on 15 July 1876. He received private tuition from the architect George Alexander Thomas Middleton (1861-1935) and was articled to J.G.T. West in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. He commenced independent practice in St. Austell in 1902 and subsequently worked as an architect in Conwall. As County Architect for Cornwall he designed a number of schools. He was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1925. He died in St. Austell on 22 September 1960.
