Howard Dennes Archer was born in Yarm, Yorkshire, England in 1890 and trained as an architect at the Architectural Association Schools in London. He subsequently practised as an architect in London. In 1925 he emigrated to Kenya where he was in partnership with Robert Stanley Cobb (1890-1959). He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1919 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1930.
His address was given as 45 Finsbury Pavement, London in 1920 and 1925; 115, Moorgate, London in 1923; P.O. Box 58, Nairobi, Kenya in 1927 and 1939. He died in Nairobi on 9 August 1967.
