Arthur, John Maurice 1877 - 1954

John Maurice Arthur was born in Airdrie Lanarkshire Scotland on 30 January 1877. He was articled to his father, George Arthur (1849-1899) from 1891 to 1896 and then worked as his assistant until 1899. He also attended Glasgow Royal Technical College.  When his father died in 1899 he took over his practice in Airdrie.  He also practised in Glasgow.  He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911 and was admitted a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1921. He was also a Fellow of the Glasgow Institute of Architects.  He died in Airdrie, Lanarkshire on 8 May 1954
