Henry Greig Badenoch was born in Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire Scotland on 22 November 1847. He was articled to John Russell Mackenzie (?-1889) in Aberdeen from 1863 to 1868 and remained as an assistant until 1871. He then worked as an assistant to Henry Tully in Nottingham from 1872 to 1875, and to Frank West Rich (1840-1929) in Newcastle upon Tyne from 1875 to 1889 In 1889 commenced independent practice in Newcastle upon Tyne. In 1892 he formed the architectural partnership Badenoch & Bruce in Newcastle upon Tyne with James Bruce (1857-1918). The practice specialised in the design of Presbyterian churches, building 13 in the Newcastle area. The partnership was dissolved in 1910.
Badenoch became a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) in 1895 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1907. He was also a member of the Northern Architectural Association. He died in Newcastle Upon Tyne, Northumberland on 15 February 1917.
