Alfred Norman Bembridge was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, England on 16 December 1870 and was articled to Robert Argile in Ripley, Derbyshire from 1886 to 1890. He then worked as an assistant to Henry Thomas Helyer of Helyer & Munt in Bournemouth, Dorset in 1890-91; and to John Wallis Chapman in London from 1891. He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1912. His address was given as 26, Essendine Mansions, Malda Vale, London in 1914 and 1926. He died in Watford, Hertfordshire in 1955
