Bevis, Charles William 1854 - 1927

Charles William Bevis was born in Portsea, Hampshire, England on 30 December 1854. He was articled to George Rake (?-1883) in Portsea from 1869 to 1874 and remained with him as his assistant. He was Clerk of Works to Portsmouth School Board in 1874 and to Portsmouth Corporation from 1875 to 1878.  

Bevis commenced independent practice in Southsea, Hampshire in 1878.  He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1892.  His address was given as 14 Elm Grove House, Southsea, Portsmouth, Hampshire in 1911; and Elm Grove Chambers, Yarborough Road, Southsea and "Lydford," Spencer Road, Southsea in 1914. He died in Southsea, Hampshire on 5 April 1927.
