Blacker, Eveline Dew 1884 - 1956

Eveline Dew Blacker [also known as E. D. Blacker] was born in Bristol, Gloucestershire, England in 1884 tand rained as an architect with George Oatley for four years, and then worked as his assistant for six years.  From 1918 to 1936 she was in partnership with Harry Heathman (1872-?) in the architectural practice Heathman & Blacker [also known as Miss E. Blacker and H. Heathman] which had an office at 4 Colston Street, Tramways Centre, Bristol. They submitted a joint entry for the Scottish Housing Competition in 1919 and subsequently designed a number of public houses, private houses and commercial buildings in Bristol. In 1932 they designed the Bristol Cenotaph.

Blacker was one of only seven women who gave their occupation as architect in the 1911 England and Wales Census.

Blacker's address was given as 20 Victoria Square, Clifton, Bristol in 1911 and 4 Colston Street, Tramways Centre, Bristol in 1918. She died in Clifton, Bristol, Gloucestershire on 21 May 1956
