Alexander Godolphin Bond was born in Marlborough Wiltshire England in 1870. After studying at Keble College, Oxford he was articled to his brother, Frederick Bligh Bond (1864-1945) from 1892. He also worked in the office of William Church Howgate (1866-1952 and attended Clifton School of Art in Bristol. He qualified as an architect in 1896 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in London in 1897. He was in partnership with Claude Batley (1879-1956) from 1906 to 1913. In 1921 he formed another partnership with Gilbert Scott-Cockrill (1885-1926) as Bond & Scott-Cockrill. The partnership was dissolved in April 1924. He died in Bath, Somerset on 27 May 1937
