James Albert Bowden was born in London, England in 1876 and was articled to Frederick Arthur Walters (1849-1931). He commenced independent practice in London in 1900 and from 1908 to 1914 was in partnership with Thomas Wallis (1873-1953). Bowden was a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) and was admitted a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1925. He died on 15 September 1949. His death was registered in Hove, Sussex.
