Benjamin Bower was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire, England on 3 April 1874. After studying at Birmingham School of Art, he worked in the office of William Martin (1828?-1900) and John Henry Chamberlain (1831-1883) for a number of years, and with Ewen Harper (1853-1920) and others. He commenced independent practice as an architect in Birmingham in 1897.
His address was given as 48 Bloomsbury Street, Aston, Birmingham in 1891; and 14 Temple Street, Birmingham in 1897 and 1900. He died in Bromsgrove, Worcestershire in 1938
