Bracewell, Arthur

Arthur Bracewell was born in Keighley Yorkshire on 22 January 1886 and was articled to William Rhodes Nunns (1866-1937) in Bingley, Yorkshire from 1901 to 1906. He also attended Keighley Technical & Art School and briefly studied at the Royal College of Art in London in 1908.  From 1911 to 1915 Bracewell was in partnership with Nunns as Nunns & Bracewell.

Bracewell was admitted an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1920 and in 1922 established his own independent practice in Keighley. In c.1926 he relocated his practice to Tillicoultry in Clackmannanshire, Scotland. He also had an office in Saltaire near Bradford. Most of the work by his practice was in Tillicoultry.  In 1952 his son Arthur Geoffrey Bracewell (1920-1987) joined the practice which became Arthur Bracewell & Son. Arthur Bracewell died in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire Scotland on 6 July 1953.
