Frank Edward Bromilow [also known as Francis Edward Bromilow] was born in West Bromwich, Staffordshire, England on 14 February 1909. Nothing is known about his training as an architect. He practised in Birmingham between the 1930s and the late 1970s.
Two photographs and a plan of a house in Hollywood, Warwickshire, designed by Bromilow for Mr T. Merris are illustrated in Decorative Art vol. 34, 1939 (p. 34); and a photograph, plan and description of a house at King's Norton Birmingham, designed by him are illustrated in Decorative Art vol. 36, 1941 (pp. 23, 26). A house at Barnt Green, Worcestershire designed by Bromilow is illustrated in Small Houses £500-£2,500 by H. Mysles Wright (London: Architectural Press, 1937 p. 101), and a holiday bungalow designed by him is discussed in Seaside Houses and Bungalows, edited by Ella Carter (London: Country Life, 1937 pp. 94-95).
During the 1950s and 1960s, he was in partnership with George Hunt While (1910-1980) and Reginald Arthur Smeeton (1910-1994) as Bromilow While & Smeeton.
Bromilow was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1933. His address was given as The Uplands, Alvechurch, near Birmingham in 1936; and 102 Colmore Row, Birmingham in 1939. He died in Claverdon, Warwickshire in August 1988
