Brown, George Talbot 1898 - 1973

George Talbot Brown was born in Sunderland, Durham, England on 22 December 1898 and was the son of the architect George Thomas Brown (1866-1923).  He trained as an architect at the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London and worked as an assistant to Alfred William Stephens Cross (1858-1932) and Kenneth Mervyn Baskerville (1890-1968) of A. W. S. and K. M. B. Cross. in London.  In 1922 Brown succeeded to his father's practice in Sunderland.

George Talbot Brown was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1922 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1938. He was advising architect to the Wearmouth Coal Company in cases of surface damage; architect to the Thornhill Estate, Sunderland; Associate Member of Council, Northern Architectural Association.

His address was given as 11 West Lawn, Briery Vale Road, Sunderland in 1901 and 1911; 51, Fawcett Street, Sunderland in 1923 and 1939; and Huntsmans House Greenrigg Kennels, Alnwick, Northumberland in 1939.  He died in May 1973.
