Brown, George Thomas 1866 - 1923

George Thomas Brown was born in Sunderland, Durham, England on 19 July 1866. He was articled to John Tillman (1836-1899) in Sunderland from 1881 to 1886 and remained as his assistant until 1890 when he commenced independent practice in Sunderland. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1905.   He was also a member of the Northern Architectural Association and its President in 1908-09 and 1909-10.  He died in 1923.

Durham; 100 houses for Sunderland R.D.C., and 60 for Durham C.C.; various business premises and alterations in Sunderland and neighbourhood; various residences and remodelling houses In Sunderland and neighbourhood.
