Brown, Henry Marcus 1868 - 1940

Henry Marcus Brown was born in Bradford On Avon, Wiltshire, England in 1869 and was articled to William John Willcox (1838-1928) and Thomas Ames of Willcox & Ames in Bath, England from 1884 to 1889. He also attended Bath School of Art. He then worked as an assistant to Hugh George McLachlan (1852-1938); to Jan van Stringer; and to Charles Edwin Ponting (1850-1932) in Marlborough.  

Brown commenced independent practice as an architect in Wednesbury, Staffordshire and from 1894 to 1899 was in partnership with Samuel Horton.  In 1899 he relocated his practice to Wolverhampton.

He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1910.  He was active as an architect in Wolverhampton until at least 1936. His address was given as 169 Lea Road, Wolverhampton in 1911; 45, Queen Street, Wolverhampton and 103, Clark Road, Wolverhampton. in 1914 and 1926. He died on 8 February 1940. His address at the time of his death was The Bell, Birches Road, Codsall, Staffordshire.
