Burnet, William Hodgson 1873 - 1933

William Hodgson Burnet was born in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland on 11 March 1873 and studied at St. Andrews University and Oxford University. He was articled to Thomas Edward Collcutt (1840-1924) in 1894 and remained with him as his assistant until 1900 and as his Clerk of Works in 1900-01. He then worked as an assistant to Ernest George (1839-1922) in 1902, and in H.M. Office of Works from 1902.  He commenced independent practice as an architect in London in 1902, whilst continuing to work at the Office of Works.  He was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1911. He was active as an architect until at least the late 1920s.  He died in Windsor Berkshire on 8 December 1933
