Albert Thomas Butler [also known as A. T. Butler] was born in Cradley, Worcestershire, England on 18 January 1872 and was articled to Horton & Scott in Wednesbury, Staffordshire in 1887 and worked as an assistant to Henry Hill McConnal (1856-1908) in Walsall, Staffordshire. He commenced practice as an architect in Cradley Heath, Staffordshire in 1893.
Butler was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1907. He was also a Fellow of the Institute of Architects ( F.I.Ar.) and a member of the Birmingham Architectural Association of which he was President in the late 1920s and early 1930s. His address was given as 1 Whitehall Road, Cradley Heath in 1911; 31, Priory Street, Dudley in 1914 and 1930. He died on 6 March 1952. His address at the time of his death was Redcliffe, Melbourne Road, Halesowen, Worcestershire
