Carter, George Christopher c. 1879 - 1908

George Christopher Carter [commonly known as G. Christopher Carter] was born in Tooting, Surrey, England in c.1879. Nothing is known about his training as an architect. During his short career he practised in London.

In 1902, with Owen Little (1865–1931), he was responsible for the restoration of St Peter & St Paul Church in Chipping Warden, Northamptonshire, and the rebuilding of the chancel of Holy Trinity Church in Charwelton, Northamptonshire between 1901 and 1904.

Carter exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1897 and 1898 at which he showed a design for a font in cast and decorated lead, and a proposed memorial for Horncastle, Lincolnshire. Photographs of his design for the chancel of Holy Trinity Church, Charwelton were shown in the 8th exhibition of the Arts & Crafts Exhibition Society in London in 1906.

His address was given as 51 Aynhoe Road, Brook Green, London in 1897 and 1898; and 2 New Square, Lincoln's Inn, London in 1906. On 13 October 1906 he married Flora MacTavish Ogston (1872-1929) in Aberdeen. He died at Artamford, Banchory, Kincardineshire, Scotland on 6 November 1908. His address at the time of his death was 1 Blenheim Road, Bedford Park, Middlesex.
