John Francis Chambers was born in Goole, Yorkshire, England on 13 March 1889 and was articled to his father, Frederick Chambers (1853–1920) in Goole He subsequently practised as an architect in Goole. He was in partnership with his father as Chambers & Son and retained the title of the firm following the death of his father in 1920.
Chambers was a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) and was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1925. His address was given as 52 Edinburgh Street, Hook, Yorkshire in 1891; Thorn Croft, Clifton Gardens, Goole, Yorkshire in 1901 and 1911; and 3 Belgravia, Goole in 1914 and 1926. He died in Kingston upon Thames, Surrey in 1971
