Frederick Wykeham Chancellor was born in Chelmsford, Essex, England on 27 October 1865. He studied at Pembroke College, Oxford and was articled to his father, Frederic Wykeham Chancellor (1825-1918) in Chelmsford, Essex from 1885 to 1889, remaining as his assistant until 1893. He was subsequently in partnership with his father from 1893 to 1918. They designed a number of houses, schools and parsonages in Essex and elsewhere. They were both Diocesan Surveyors to the diocese of Chelmsford and were responsible for repairing several churches. Frederick Wykeham Chancellor was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1907. He died on 21 December 1945.
