Chart, Robert Masters 1850 - 1942

Robert Masters Chart was born in Croydon, Surrey, England on 17 November 1850 and was articled to his father, Edwin Chart (1805-1888) in Mitcham, Surrey.  He commenced independent practice as an architect in Mitcham in 1875 and was in partnership with his father from 1875 to 1888. Following his father's death in 1888 he ran the practice alone until 1896 when he formed a partnership with his son, Christopher Chart (1874-1949) and subsequently with his other son, Stephen Chart (1879-1964).  The Charts were also also in partnership with Charles Harold Reading as Chart, Sons & Reading in Mitcham in the early years of the years of the twentieth century.

Robert Masters Chart became a Member of the Society of Architects (MSA) in 1896 and was admitted a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1925.  He died in Mitcham, Surrey on 10 February 1942.
