Clarke, Stphen Henry 1888 - 1976

Stephen Henry Clarke [also known as Stephen H. Clarke] was born in Derby, Derbyshire, England on 3 October 1886. In the 1911 England and Wales Census his occupation was given as Architect's Assistant living in Etwall, Derbyshire.  By the early 1920s he had moved to Preston, Lancashire and was practising as an architect. He submitted a design for a bungalow in the  Daily Mail Architects Competition for Labour-Saving Bungalows in 1922.  He was in private practice as architect in Middlesborough, Yorkshire in the 1920s. By the late 1930s he had moved to Egglescliffe in County Durham. In the 1939 England and Wales Register he gave as his occupation as Architect, Surveyor and Civil Engineer.

Clarke's address was given as Ivy Cottage, Etwall, Derbyshire in 1911; “The Willows" Samlesbury, Preston, Lancashire in 1922; and Butts Lane, Egglescliffe, Stockton, County Durham in 1939.  He died in Richmond, Yorkshire in 1976
