Clifton, Edward Noel 1891 - 1984

Edward Noel Clifton was born in Westminster, Middlesex [now London, England on 21 December 1891.  After taking a degree in Mechanical Science and History at the University of Cambridge, he remained at the university where he studied architecture and was awarded his Architectural Diploma.  He subsequently practised as an architect in London and was Surveyor to: the Worshipful Company of Cutlers, The Glebe of Chelsea, and the Penton Estate.

After serving in the Royal Flying Corps during World War One, he resumed his architectural practice.  During 1920s and early 1930s he was was a partner in the London architectural firm Gunton & Gunton.

Clifton was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1921 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1930.  His address was given as 12 Cambridge Square, Hyde Park, London in 1911; Finsbury House, Blomfield Street, London in 1923 and 1926; and Empire House, St. Martin-le-Grand, London in 1929 and 1939. He died in Chelsea, London on 10 July 1984
