Comyn, Charles Heaton Fitzwilliam 1877 - 1933

Charles Heaton Fitzwilliam Comyn [also known as Heaton Comyn] was born in Satara, Bombay [now Mumbai], India on 16 August 1877. He was articled to John Begg (1866-1937) in 1895, but transferred his articles to Robert Sheckleton Balfour (1869-1942) in 1896. He also attended classes at the Architectural Association in London and the British School of Athens in 1902 and 1904. He was awarded the Architectural Association Travelling Studentship in 1900 and the Tite Prize in 1904.

Comyn qualified as an architect in 1900 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) later that year.  He commenced independent practice an architect in London in 1910 and was appointed Surveyor to the Worshipful Company of Drapers in 1911.  He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1919. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1905, 1921 and 1926.  He died on 25 September 1933. At the time of his death his address was given as White Cottage, Birchwood Road, Petts Wood, Orbington, Kent.
