Coupland , William Vernon 1895 - 1958

William Vernon Coupland was born in Guiseley, Yorkshire, England on 19 October 1895 and was articled to Frederick Endell Rosser (1875-1920) in East Sheen, London. He also worked in the offices of Sir Arthur Blomfield & Sons, and Edwin Thomas Hall (1851-1923) in London.  He subsequently commenced practice in London and by the early 1920s was in partnership with William Edward Couch (1877-1942) as Couch & Coupland in London and later Richmond, Surrey.  The partnership was still active in 1939 and may have been dissolved following the outbreak of World War Two or with the death of Couch in 1942.

Coupland was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1920.  His address was given as 15 Springfield Road, Guiseley, Yorkshire in 1901; 7 Palewell Park, East Sheen, London in 1911; 82, Victoria Street, Westminster, London in 1923; 5, Duke Street, Richmond, Surrey in 1926 and 1930; and 37 Sheen Road, Richmond, Surrey in 1935 and 1939. He died in Surrey on 3 November 1958
