Crockett, Geoffrey Albert 1911 - 1996

 

Geoffrey Albert Crockett [commonly known as Geoffrey A. Crockett] was born in London on 6 March 1911 and studied architecture at the University of London. He subsequently worked as an architect in London from the late 1930s. He designed a number of coffee bars in London including La Ronde (Baker Street), Negresco (Brook Street), Sarabia (Onslow Crescent), Pinnochio (Frith Street), and the Moka-Ris (Dean Street), and elsewhere, e.g. the Jakba Coffee Lounge in Dorking, Surrey in 1956. A photograph of the interior of La Ronde is illustrated in the March 1956 issue of 'Art and Industry' (p.102). He also designed milk bars for Moo-Moo Milk Bars in the 1950s. During the early 1950s he was consulting architect to the contractors , the Davis Fabrication Company.

Crockett was was a Donaldson Merdallist in 1932-33. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1935 and later a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA). He was also an Associate Member of the Town Planning Institute (AMPTI). His address was given as 48 Tavistock Square, London in 1939, and 430 Strand, London in 1950 He died in Taunton Deane, Somerset in 1996
