Davies, Samuel 1857 - 1929

Samuel Davies was born in was born in Frodsham, Cheshire in 1857 and was the son of Thomas Davies, a builder and joiner. He was articled to Peter Bradshaw Alley (1811-1904) in Manchester. He also studied at Manchester School of Art and was awarded by the Manchester Society of Architects and the Manchester Architectural Association.  

Davies commenced independent practice at Frodsham in c.1891 and formed a partnership with C. E. Linaker which was dissolved in 1893.  In 1895 he opened a second office in Runcorn.  In 1907 Davies ran into financial difficulties and was eventually declared bankrupt.  He subsequently resumed his practice in Runcorn and was was active as an architect until at least the early 1920s.  Davies was elected a Member of the Society of Architects in 1894 and died in Frodsham on 29 April 1929.
