Deacon, Charles Ernest 1845 - 1927

Charles Ernest Deacon was born in Liverpool, England on 26 January 1845 and was articled to Sir James Allanson Picton (1805-1889) from 1862 to 1868. He was then employed as an assistant in the offices Edgington & Sons in London; Arthur Harston (1841-1912) and Christopher Harston; William Reid Corson and Robert Walker Aitken; and with Sir William Emerson (1843-1924) as a draughtsman until 1871. He subsequently worked as an independent architect and from 1872  was in partnership with Charles Aldridge (1842-1895).  He later took his son, Wilfrid Theodore Deacon (1877-1958), into partnership.

C. E. Deacon was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1891.

His address was given as Central Buildings, North John Street, Liverpool and 12 Bedford Road, Rock Ferry, Cheshire in 1891; and 12 St. George Crescent. Liverpool in 1914 and 1926.  He died in Birkenhead, Cheshire on 2 July 1927.
