Dickinson , Page Lawrence 1881 - 1958

Page Lawrence Dickinson was born in County Dublin, Ireland on 18 October 1881 and was articled to Richard Francis Caulfield Orpen (1863-1938) in Dublin from c.1900 to c.1904.  He commenced practice in Dublin in 1905 and was subsequently in partnership with Orpen as Orpen & Dickinson.  Following World War One in which he served as a captain in the Mechanical Transport division, he settled in Yorkshire, England, where he worked on various housing projects.

Dickinson is primarily remembered as an architectural historian and journalist.  He was also an artist and exhibited at the Water Colour Society in Dublin in 1906 and 1908, the  Irish International Exhibition in Dublin in 1907, the Royal Hibernian Academy in Dublin in 1907 and 1913, and at the annual exhibitions of the Architectural Association of Ireland in 1908 and 1910.

He was elected a Member of the Architectural Association of Ireland (MAAI) in 1897 and was its president in 1911-12. He was also elected a member of the Royal Institute of the Architects of Ireland (RIAI) in 1907 and was a member of the United Arts Club.  His address was given as 2 Bolton Gardens Mews, West Brompton, London in 1939.  Towards the end of his life he returned to Ireland to live and died in Kilmacanogue, Co. Wicklow, Ireland on 1 October 1958.
