Peter Browning Dunham [commonly known as Peter Dunham was born in Luton, Bedfordshire, England on 9 October 1911 and was the son of Fitzroy William Dunham (1882–1971), a local builder. He studied at the Bartlett School of Architecture and part-time at Slade School of Fine Art, University College, London
He was an RIBA Donaldson Medallist 1931-32 and was elected an Associate of the Royal institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1933. He commenced practice as an architect in 1933 and by the late 1930s was a partner, with Stanley Charles Parrott (1885-1973), in the architectural practice Parrott & Dunham in Luton. In c.1948, with Frank MacFarlane Widdup (1918-1985) and Michael Charles Harrison (1916-2002), he formed the architectural partnership Dunham, Widdup & Harrison in Luton.
Two two four-bedroom homes at Harpenden, Hertfordshire, designed for J.E. Willies and J. Mawle by Peter Dunham, Widdup & Harrison are briefly discussed in 'Decorative Art' 1955-56 (p.18).
Other projects by the firm included a house at Studham, near Luton, Bedfordshire (1953); a bungalow near Whipsnade & the Dunstable Downs, Bedfordshire (1954); a factory for Allen & Hanburys in Ware, Hertfordshire (1957); an out-patient centre in Stevenage, Hertfordshire (1962); and offices and factory complex for Hawthorn Baker Ltd. in Dunstable, Hertfordshire (1963)
It is unclear when the partnership was dissolved. By the 1970s Widdup and Harrison were partners in another practice, Charter Building Design Group.
In addition to his work as an architect, Dunham was also a painter. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London and with the Sole Bay Group in Suffolk.
Dunham died in Saxmundham, Suffolk on 9 December 1997
