Frederick Ernest Eales was born in Marylebone, Middlesex [now London], England on 25 December 1851 and was articled to his father, Christopher Eales (1809-1903) in 1869. He also attended South Kensington Art Schools in London in 1869-70; the Architectural Association Schools in London from 1870 to 1872; the Royal Academy Schools in London from 1873; and University College, London. He was awarded the Donaldson Medal for 1870-71 and 1871-72.
He commenced independent practice in London in 1877 and was in partnership with his father from 1878. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British architects (ARIBA) in 1878) and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1886. He qualified as a District Surveyor in 1886. He died in Kensington, London in 1919
