Edwards, George 1854 - 1946

George Edwards was born in Kensington, London, England on 2 November 1854. He was articled to Charles James Freake from 1865 and remained with him as his assistant until 1874. He then worked as an assistant to William Willmer Pocock (1813-1899) in 1874-75; and to Thomas Leverton Donaldson (1795-1885) and Alfred Williams (1832-1922), District Surveyors  for South Kensington, London, in 1875-76.  He also attended the Science and Art Schools in South Kensington.

Edwards commenced independent practice in London in 1876.  He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British architects (ARIBA) in 1880, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1886.  He died in Egham, Surrey on 3 March 1946.
