Errington, Charles Septimus 1868 - 1935

Charles Septimus Errington was born in Newcastle Upon Tyne Northumberland England on 26 July 1868 and was articled to William Searle Hicks (1849-1902) of Hicks & Charlwood in in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1882, following which he worked as an assistant to the practice until 1895. He also attended classes at Newcastle School of Art.

He qualified as an architect in 1894 and commenced independent practice in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1896. He subsequently remained in Newcastle upon Tyne for the rest of his career as an architect.  A large part of the work by his practice included schools, church halls, and branches of Lloyd's Bank. He also designed houses for Newcastle Corporation, and three housing schemes for the Sutton Trust in Newcastle. He was Diocesan Surveyor for Newcastle.

Errington was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (A.R.I.B.A.) in 1895, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (F.R.I.B.A.) in 1917.  He was an active member of the Northern Architectural Association and its President in 1919-20. He was also a member of the Northumberland Handicrafts Guild.

Errington's address was given as 15 Crawn Street, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1895; and 21 Grainer Street, Newcastle upon Tyne in 1896 and 1935.  He died on Northumberland on 9 May 1935.
