Evans, Thomas c. 1886 - 1916

Thomas Evans was born born in the village of Cark-in-Cartmel near Morecambe Bay in Lancashire, England in c.1886. He gave his occupation as Architect in the 1911 England and Wales Census, however, nothing is known about his training in the profession.

Drawings and plans of a house designed by him are illustrated in Designs for One Hundred Ideal £1,000 Houses. Being copies of the hundred best designs entered in the 1912 Daily Mail Architects' Competition (1912 p.42).

He married  Eleanor Barber at St Leonard’s, Streatham, on 27 May 1916 and was listed as living at his parents’ house, 129 Fawnbrake Avenue, Herne Hill.

Follwing the outbreak of World War One, he was called up on 10 December 1915 and served in the Army. With his battalion he was posted to France, and was killed in action on 16 September 1916 during Battle of the Somme.
