Henry Martineau Fletcher was born in Paddington, London on 12 August 1870. After studying at Trinity College, Cambridge, he was articled to Mervyn Edmund Macartney (1853-1932) from 1892 to 1896.
He commenced independent practice in London in 1897 and was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1908, He was President of the Architectural Association in 1918-19 and Vice-President of the RIBA in 1929-31. He was an Hon. Corresponding Member of the American Institute of Architects. He was also a member of the Art Workers Guild from 1901 and Master of the AWG in 1930.
His address was given as 9 Stanhope Street, Hyde Park Gardens, London in 1908; 10 Lincoln's Inn Fields, London in 1908 and 1914; 2 Gray's Inn Square, London in 1923 and 1939. He died in Kensington, London on 7 August 1953.
