Fraser, Gilbert Wilson 1873 - 1954

Gilbert Wilson Fraser was born in Bootle, Lancashire on 23 September 1873 and was articled to Edmund Kirby (1838-1920) from 1889 to 1894. He then worked in the Assistant City Surveyor's Office in Liverpool from 1895, and was assistant to William Edward Willink (1856-1924) and Philip Coldwell Thicknesse (1860-1920) of Willink & Thicknesse.

Fraser qualified as an architect in 1896 and commenced independent practice as an architect in Liverpool in 1902, He was School Architect for Bootle Corporation and later Advising Architect, Education Committee, Bootie Corporation

He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1897 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1914.  He was also a member of the Liverpool Architectural Society and its President in 1914.

His address was given as Municipal Offices, Liverpool in 1897; 65 Lord Street, Liverpool in 1907; 48 Balliol Road, Bootle in 1911; 4 Parr's Bank Building, 20 Castle Street, Liverpool in 1914; Wellington Buildings, The Strand, Liverpool in 1926 and 1939; and Larkhill Cottage Larkhill Lane, Formby, Lancashire in 1939.  He died in Lancashire, England on 24 January 1954.
