Arthur John Fryers was born in Scotland in 1867 and was articled to William Forsyth McGibbon (c.1857-1923) in Glasgow. He also attended Glasgow School of Art. He commenced practice as an architect in Largs, Scotland in 1894. From 1898 he was in partnership with his brother-in-law Larmont Douglas Penman (1868-1931) as Fryers & Penman at at 10 Robertson Street, Glasgow. Fryers died in Largs, Ayrshire on 9 August 1954
