Gilmour, Thomas Gilchrist 1881 - 1966

Thomas Gilchrist Gilmour was born in  Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland on 3 December 1881 and was articled to Donald Bruce (1834-1919) and Edward A. B. Hay (1855-1934) of Bruce & Hay in Glasgow in 1897. He was then Clerk of Works for Bain & Co. in 1900-01; an improver with John Ure MacDurslaw in 1901-02; assistant to John Fairweather (1867-1942) in Glasgow in 1902-03; and an assistant to Glasgow Corporation Office of Works from 1903.  He subsequently continued to work for Glasgow Corporation Office of Works in the capacity of architect until at least the late 1920s.

Gilmour qualified as an architect in 1912. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) later that year and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1928. He died in Cambuslang, Scotland on 11 November 1966

M. Somers, Kelvin Hall in Glasgow (1926-27).
