John Greaves was born in York, Yorkshire, England in 1885 and commenced practice as an architect in London, England in c.1910. He was elected a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1931. He exhibited at the Royal Academy in London in 1910 and 1924
His address was given as 16 Old Buildings, Lincoln's Inn, London in 1910; 84 South Hill Park, Hampstead, London in 1911; 31 Maresfield Gardens, Hampstead, Middlesex [now London] in 1924; 28 Albemarle Street,, London in 1932; 32A Montagu Square, London in 1931 and 1935; and 33 Grosvenor Road, Caversham, Reading, Berkshire in 1950. He died in Sandwich, Kent in 1974
