Griggs, Henry Jenner 1867 - 1943

Henry Jenner Griggs [also known as Harry James Griggs] was born in Ramsgate, Kent, England in 1867. He studied at University College, London and was articled to William Reddall (?-1899) of William Redall & Son from 1883 to 1887.  He subsequently worked as an assistant to Charles P. Ayres (?1914); Theodore Knolles Green (1832-1916); Edward Jabez Paine; Henry Alfred Cooper in Kettering, Northamptonshire; and to George Elkington (1823?-1897) and George Elkington (1851-1939) of George Elkington & Son as principal assistant from 1887 to 1891.

Griggs qualified as an architect in 1891 and was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) later that year. He commenced independent practice as an architect in Newport, Wales in 1896.  He died in Caerleon Monmouthshire  on 7 August 1943.
