Patrick Gwynne

Alban Patrick Gwynne [commonly known as Patrick Gwynne] was born in Portchester, Hampshire, England, on 24 March 1913.  On leaving school he was articled to the New Zealand-born architect Ernest William George Coleridge (1875-1949). He then worked in the office of Wells Coates (1895-1958) whilst at the same time designing 'Homewood' in Esher, Surrey (1937-39), a house for his parents. He also designed furniture for the house including a dining table, card table, occasional table, writing table, dressing table and desk and a cocktail bar.

During World War Two, Gwynne served with the Royal Air Force in Canada. Following the war he lived at Homewood from where he ran his architectural practice.  He died in Esher, Surrey on 3 May 2003.
