Harding, Douglas Edison 1909 - 2007

Douglas Edison Harding was born in Lowestoft, Suffolk on 12 February 1909. He trained as an architect in London. He was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1932 and practised as an architect in Ipswich.  In 1937 he moved to India to work as an architect with Martin & Co. in Calcutta [now Kolkata]. After serving with the British Army, Engineer Corps in India during World War Two, he returned to England in 1945.

During his years in India he had become interested mysticism on which he wrote and lectured extensively after the war. He died in Nacton, Suffolk on 11 January 2007
