Harris, Philip Capes 1891 - 1962

Philip Capes Harris was born in Liverpool, England in 1891. He enrolled at the University of Liverpool, School of Architecture in 1908 and was awarded a Cert. Arch. in 1910. He then attended the Royal Academy Schools in London. After working for various architectural practices in London including Blow & Billery and Lutyens, in 1922 he went to Zanzibar to work as an architect in the Public Works Department.  He returned to England in 1933.

Harris was elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1914 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British architects (FRIBA) in 1929.

His address was given as School Chambers, Castle Street, Shrewsbury, Shropshire in 1934; "Oakdene", 49 King's Drive, Eastbourne, Sussex in 1939: and  8 Devonshire Buildings, Wellsway, Bath, Somerset in 1962.  he died in Bath, Somerset on 20 June 1962
