Harrison, Harry St John 1894 - 1989

Harry St John Harrison [also known as Henry  St John Harrison] was born in Newcastile upon Tyne, Northumberland, England on 16 March 1894. It is not know where or with whom he trained as an architect. He was a Pugin Student in 1920 and was awarded a Victory Scholarship in 1922.  

He practised as an architect in London from the mid-1920s and was in partnership with his wife, Edith Gillian Harrison (1898-1974) [née Cooke] as E. G. Cooke and H. St. J. Harrison [also known as Cooke & Harrison]. In the 1930s they designed three houses in Littlestone, Kent. Cooke & Harrison had offices in Gray's Inn Square, London.

A drawing and ground- and first-floor plans of proposed houses at Lawn Road in Hampstead, London, designed by Cooke & Harrison is illustrated in 'Decorative Art' 1930 (p.58)

A stand Harrison designed for Imperial Chemical Industries at the 1937 British Industries Fair in London is illustrated in 'Art and Industry' April 1937 (p.162).  He was Elected an Associate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1918 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1931.  He died in Cheshire in 1989. His death was registered in Chester.
