Hazell, Wilberforce Ernest 1871 - 1953

Wilberforce Ernest Hazell [commonly known as W. Ernest Hazell] was born in Llandhurst, Denbighshire, Wales in 1871. From 1891 to 1894 he was articled to Alfred Waterhouse (1830-1905) and from 26 July 1892 to 27 July 1897 studied at the Royal Academy Schools in London. He remained as Waterhouse's assistant in 1894. He then worked as assistant to Alfred Hessell Tiltman (1854-1910) in 1896-97.  

Hazell set up an independent practice in London in 1897. A drawing of a cottage at Aylesbury designed by W. Ernest Hazell is illustrated in 'The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art' 1907 (p.24).  He was elected an Associate of the Royal Royal Institute of British Architects (ARIBA) in 1895 and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1907.  

Hazell exhibited at the Royal Academy in London from 1901 to 1919. He died on 4 March 1953.

Hazell exhibited at the Royal Academy in London from 1901 to 1919.  His address was given as 15 Russell Square, London in 1895; 22 Moorgate Street, London in 1900; 5 Tavistock Square, London in 1901 and 1939; and 13 Woburn Square, London in 1907. He died on 4 March 1953
