Henson, Arthur Edward 1899 - 1978

Charles Arthur Edward Henson [commonly known as Arthur Edward Henson] was born in Northampton, Northamptonshire, England on 10 March 1899. By 1921, aged 22, he was employed as an assistant architect and secretary in the office of the Northampton architect John Brown (1880-1958), and by 1931, had become a partner in Brown's firm, which was renamed John Brown & A. E. Henson [from 1934, Sir John Brown & A. E. Henson].  Architectural projects by the practice included the Black & White milk bar on Gray's Inn Road, London (c.1936); Berleigh Factory, Sough, Berkshire (1937); Wollaston Hall, Wollaston, Northamptonshire (1940-49); a house in Northamptonshire (1955); and a house in Cogenhoe, Northamptonshire (1962).

Henson was elected a Licentiate of the Royal Institute of British Architects (LRIBA) in 1931, and a Fellow of the Royal Institute of British Architects (FRIBA) in 1936.

His address was given as 80 Abingdon St, Northampton in 1921; 83 St. Giles’s Street, Northampton in 1934 and 1939; and 117 Sloane Street, London in 1950.  He died on 20 June 1978. His address at the time of his death was Mulberry Cottage, Littlecourt, Farthingstone, Northamptonshire
