Thomas Hodgson was born in Whitehaven, Cumberland, England in 1833. He was active as an architect, builder and artist in the Keswick area in the second half of the nineteenth century. He was also involved in the establishment of Fitz Park in Keswick and was a Trustee and Hon. Secretary of the Fitz Park Trust for several years.
Hodgson died in Cockermouth, Cumberland on 10 October 1919
